7 Ways to Organize the Contents of Your Shed to Maximize Your Space

Regardless of the style and size of shed you choose from NuHaus Outdoors, you’ll want to get the most out of the shed space that you have.

Many of our design options come with storage space in mind, including a loft, workbench, pegboards, and shelving. But there are plenty of steps you can take, no matter how handy you may or may not be, to either add even more space before you fill your shed or have had one for a while and are looking to declutter it.

Here are seven ways to organize the contents of your shed to maximize your space.

Install a Floating Shelf

Floating shelves can be secured to the wall and come in just about any shape and size, making them perfect to store tools, cleaning supplies, and even larger items like planters.

Free-Standing Shelving

A much easier option than floating shelves, especially if you like to move things around a lot, is a free-standing shelf. There are plenty of options with these, as they either come in metal or plastic, have three, four, or five levels of shelving, and are on wheels, so they can be moved around easily. They are also fairly easy to assemble, many not even requiring any tools to do so.

Repurpose Old Furniture

If you’re looking for the function of free-standing shelving but the shed’s aesthetic requires something more fashionable, you can always grab a bookshelf or repurpose existing furniture that’s already in your home to serve as storage space in the shed.

Utilize Plastic Tubs

Plastic storage containers of any size can be perfect to store hardware, tools, cables, cords. or anything else you have laying around. Adding organization to your storage space makes this an even more productive activity.

Repurpose Drawer Organizers

Even if you don’t have any drawers in your shed, drawer organizers on their own are perfect to sit on a shelf and are also stackable, so you can keep all of your smaller items organized in one place.

Make a Garden Tool Holder Out of a Wooden Pallet

Secure a wooden pallet to the wall and voila you have a DIV garden tool holder! You can attach this to the outside of the shed as well and even paint it to add your personal touch.

Store Items in Jars

If you want some clear storage options with a rustic look, mason jars are the perfect match. You can use these for various hardware or they can hold longer items like pens. pencils. and paintbrushes.
