You’ve brought home your new shed, so now what? Taking good care of your shed is an important aspect of shed ownership. Here are some tips and tricks for keeping your shed looking sharp.
Choose quality materials. When selecting your shed, it’s important to pay attention to the materials that were used to build it. When your shed is constructed with high-quality, durable materials, it will be easier for you to maintain it over time.
Landscaping. Spend time thinking about the landscaping you might add around your shed. Adding perennials and shrubs can go a long way to adding aesthetic value to your shed — not to mention, your yard.
Annual maintenance. At least once a year, take an inventory of your shed. Does it need a good cleaning? Are there any issues that need to be addressed? By keeping on top of minor issues as they happen, you’re less likely to get bogged down with bigger problems in the future.
Touch-up exterior. Wear and tear are normal on a shed, especially one that gets a lot of use! Maybe you nicked the shed with your lawn equipment or some paint got chipped. If your shed is painted or stained, take some time each spring to touch up any blemishes on the exterior. If you don’t have any touch-up paint, contact your nuHaus Outdoor dealer, and they’ll get some for you!
Clean the inside. When you spend time making sure the interior of your shed stays clean, you’re adding to the lifespan of the building. Routine cleaning will help you spot any issues that arise, plus, you’ll never have to wonder where that funky smell is coming from.
Consider a LuxGuard floor. To truly protect your floor and add stability to your shed, consider installing a LuxGuard floor. LuxGuard is a strong, rubber flooring with a fiberglass backing that protects the floor of your shed from leaks, chips, and strain from heavy equipment.
Now that you’ve got your shed in place, be sure to extend its lifespan by taking good care of it. These best practices for keeping your shed looking sharp are sure to keep your structure in good health for years to come.
